Whatever your reason for the first trip, meeting a girl, vacation or to see if this is where you may want to live and retire. Your Resort or Hotel can help answer any questions. Always be sure to make your room reservation before going to Cebu and remember the months of December through February are expensive periods to fly. One of the things you need to consider is how much you will spend and how much you can afford to spend. The Philippines is an inexpensive place to stay if you are careful. However, if you are not careful you can spend a bucket of money. The attitude of it’s only a Peso or it’s only a dollar for every 47 Pesos can really hurt. A Peso here and a Peso there can add up to a bunch of dollars and soon you realize you spent more than intended. This may be difficult, but while in the Philippines think in Pesos, not dollars. Remember too, what you may spend in just one day in the Philippines is what a Filipino family may spend in a month. The bottom line is to know your budget 
Going to Cebu to meet your girlfriend for the first time. Ok you will be very excited and nervous. You have been emailing her, calling her, writing her and even sending her flowers. However, now is the time for your first meeting and you may want to really impress her by staying at an expensive resort or Hotel? That’s fine, but you don’t need to over do things by trying to impress the girl. Be yourself and things will be fine. You don’t have to stay at resort. You can stay at one of the many fine lower priced Hotels in the city. You may scare the girl away by spending too much and being someone other than yourself. Hotel rooms can be had from as little as P600.00 a night. However, many of those cheap type places are not the kind of place to stay and may be in the Colon area of the city. I recommend not staying in Colon. It’s OK if you know the area, but not if you are new to Cebu.   Find an affordable Hotel where taxi cabs are easily available and a place where you can walk to shops and restaurants. The Metro Park Hotel is very affordable about
P1, 000.00 and clean, it’s not a super place, but pleasant enough. It’s just a little bit too far to walk to a restaurant. I stayed there on my first trip to Cebu. The Holiday Plaza Hotel Cebu is another option and is affordable with lots more to offer for a low price, about P2, 500.00 per night. The Marriott Hotel Cebu is right next to Ayala mall and another fine place to stay and cost about P5, 000.00 per night. My pick is the Holiday Plaza Hotel Cebu, Great Food and Great location, plus really nice staff.  If you have it you can spend it, but you don’t need to. You can stay at one of the many GREAT Resorts in Cebu and indulge in all their services, scuba diving, tours, spa’s and boat trips. My picks are on Mactan Island and they are close to the airport and to Cebu City. In Lapu-Lapu Mactan Island is the Cebu Beach Club with lots to offer and not all that expensive, rooms from approximately
P4, 000.00 also on Mactan is the Tambuli Beach Club with rooms from approximately P3, 500.00. Both are nice resorts that don’t charge a lot of money. You can stay at one of the expensive places for P10.000.00 but why? |
